Why Large Language Models Matter: A Pivotal Moment in AI
Isn’t This Just More AI Hype?
Here at Gravity Stack, we’re all in on AI. We see the rise of large language models (LLMs) as nothing short of a pivotal moment in the technological landscape. How can we make such a bold statement? Because we’ve been at the forefront of what is quickly becoming known as “legacy AI.”
Our Journey in AI
Since our launch five years ago, our team has delved deep into the intricacies of existing AI technologies. We’ve harnessed tools like Brainspace and NexLP for sentiment analysis and have been cornerstone design and launch partners with Heretik, an AI for contracts startup acquired by Relativity last year. We understood why some lawyers opted for traditional methods over these AI tools—the risk of not adopting was often lower than the downside of a poor result. But we believed strongly then, as we do now, in the compounding interest of early adoption.
A Paradigm Shift
The capabilities of large language models like ChatGPT are groundbreaking. Unlike legacy AI, LLMs can “pay attention” to the most crucial words in a long text series, allowing them to understand not just the text but also you—the user.
The New Era of AI Applications
We’re witnessing a seismic shift that will significantly reduce the cost of building AI applications. With the advent of the Cloud and now LLMs, the barrier to entry for developing useful applications has been lowered dramatically. That’s why we’re seeing an explosion of new legal AI products, and it’s why building your own AI solutions may make more sense than ever.
Our Commitment: Scouting and Testing
Gravity Stack is committed to being at the cutting edge of this revolution. Our team has been in the trenches, applying both open-source and commercial LLMs to real-world solutions. We firmly believe that law firms and their subsidiaries should serve as the initial testing grounds for our clients.
Our Services
We are already helping clients with AI in three areas: AI education, AI readiness and AI implementation. Are you thinking about implementing AI in your company, but not sure where to get started? Download our 1-page FAQ to learn more about what in-house legal departments are asking us about AI.
